Use a soft, vibration-dampening mount. Skip the rigid metal arm mounts. Instead, look for mounts with silicone or foam isolation. Although they cost a bit more, they absorb a huge chunk of the shock.
Don’t leave your phone loose in a cup holder. Cup holders are hard plastic, so your phone bounces inside one with every bump. If you must use one, line the bottom with a folded shop rag.
Store the phone flat on a soft surface. A microfibre pouch on the passenger seat absorbs more impact than people think. Similarly, if you use a center console tray, line it with felt or foam.
Watch for early warning signs. A charging cable that only works at one angle is a red flag. So is audio that cuts out during calls. Likewise, a phone that shuts off with battery still showing is a warning sign. All of these are symptoms of a loose connection. Unfortunately, they don’t fix themselves.
Get diagnostics done early. A reseat of a battery connector is cheap. On the other hand, a full logic board replacement is not.
